IDS - Animated Short Film - Production Diary - 004
This is part Three of my production diary for my short animated film “ I Dont Steal “. Where I go over the beginning stages of Learning Moho Animation software to introduce into my short film workflow.
Project Update
Switching up gears this week, with the addition of a Moho Pro 14 to my workflow I spent more time working on re-drawing artwork in moho and rigging. I dont have anything to show for it since I picked some artwork I found online to trace over and figure out what are some of the pitfalls and gotchas of continuing this route. As I began to burn out on that, I decided to take a side step and work on some of the 3D animation that will be in the film for scenes and props.
This short will be 2D characters placed onto live action plates, so there are somethings I just wont be able to shoot or it will be easier and more flexible if I just make them myself in 3D rendering with photo real lighting and texturing.
C4D Interior scene
This is one of the shots that I have had in my head from the beginning of deciding to make this short, so even though I don’t have my animatic completed yet, I know this shot will be in here. So I’ve begun, texturing and slight rigging of a model I found online for this.
Current Progress
I’ve made good progress on building out the base 3d for a scene and once I get closer to finishing it I will start to have a good understanding of how I will build out other 3D scenes if needed. There will be a workflow to figure out between creating the shots in C4D, Animating the characters in Moho, and Compositing them in Fusion.
Next steps
Jumping off of this, I need to start getting some kind rig or animation started on the characters in their back facing positions so I can start getting this scene blocked out with their movement.
